Wegovy's price depends on three things: whether you use the pen or the pill, which dose you are on, and how you pay. A self-pay buyer without insurance pays $349 a month for most injection doses through NovoCare Pharmacy. A commercially insured patient can pay as little as $25 with Novo Nordisk's savings card. An eligible Medicare Part D member pays a flat $50 under the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge. Our Wegovy page has the full medication profile. This guide prices it, pen and pill, by payer.

The pen and the pill follow separate price lists. Novo Nordisk's self-pay pen price is $349 a month for the 0.25 mg through 2.4 mg doses and $399 for the 7.2 mg Wegovy HD pen. The pill runs $149 to $299 a month depending on dose. A separate, time-limited offer drops new patients to $199 a month for their first two fills of 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg, then returns to $349. Wegovy's pricing page leads with "Starting at $199 per month." That figure is the introductory rate. Most people pay a different price after the second fill.

The sections below price every route by device and dose: the list price, the self-pay pen and pill prices, the savings card, Medicare and Medicaid, and what the FDA says about compounded semaglutide sold as a cheaper alternative. Most figures below come from Novo Nordisk's Wegovy pricing page, checked October 3, 2026. The list price is not stated on that page.

Wegovy cost by how you pay

At the prices checked October 3, 2026, Wegovy runs from about $25 a month for a commercially insured patient on the savings card to $1,349.02 a month at Novo Nordisk's list price. The pen and the pill stay on two separate schedules at every step. The table below lists every route by device. The sections after it source each figure.

The $25 savings-card floor applies to both the pen and the pill, but the $199 new-patient intro rate is pen-only, for the 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg starting doses.

Wegovy price: why few people pay the list price

Wegovy's list price, what Novo Nordisk calls the wholesale acquisition cost, is $1,349.02 a month. That is the starting number before any discount, and almost nobody pays it. Against that $1,349.02 list price, the $349 self-pay pen price is about 74 percent lower, and the $25 savings-card floor is more than 98 percent lower.

Most buyers land somewhere between those two numbers because of how US drug pricing works. Insurers and pharmacy benefit managers negotiate rebates off the list price before a claim reaches you. Novo Nordisk's savings card discounts the price further for commercially insured patients. The self-pay channel at NovoCare Pharmacy sells the pen and the pill at a flat cash price that ignores the list price altogether. The list price matters mainly as a reference point. It shows up on a wholesale invoice, while a patient at the counter pays a different amount.

Wegovy pen self-pay price by dose

Without insurance, the Wegovy pen's standing self-pay price is $349 a month for every dose from 0.25 mg through 2.4 mg, and $399 a month for the 7.2 mg Wegovy HD pen. Those are the prices a buyer pays through NovoCare Pharmacy once they are past the introductory period. Wegovy's pricing page markets the pen as "Starting at $199 per month," but that figure is the temporary new-patient rate. The standing prices are in the table below.

1.7 mg$349Standing self-pay price
2.4 mg$349Standing self-pay price
7.2 mg (Wegovy HD)$399Standing self-pay price

The $199 rate is a limited-time intro offer: $199 a month for the first two monthly fills of the 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg starting dose, then $349 a month afterward. Novo Nordisk runs the offer through December 31, 2026. It is open to new patients starting the Wegovy Savings Offer or NovoCare Pharmacy self-pay. Patients already past their first two months do not qualify. A buyer who reads only the headline price and expects to keep paying $199 at 1 mg or 2.4 mg will be billed $349 instead.

Those figures cover the pen only. The pill follows a separate schedule below. Our wegovy dosage guide has the full injection escalation schedule, from the 0.25 mg starting dose through the 7.2 mg maximum, which this guide does not repeat.

The Wegovy pill follows a separate self-pay price list from the pen. Novo Nordisk's pricing page sets it at $149 a month for the 1.5 mg starting dose, $199 a month for 4 mg, and $299 a month for both the 9 mg and the 25 mg maintenance doses. A month on the pill is defined as one bottle of 30 tablets.

The pill and the pen are one drug sold in two formats. Both carry the same active ingredient, semaglutide, under one FDA label. The FDA prescribing information for Wegovy indicates "WEGOVY tablets" alongside "WEGOVY injection." Both forms are approved for use in combination with a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity. A buyer pricing one format against the other is comparing two forms of the same approved drug.

Wegovy savings card and commercial insurance

For a patient whose commercial insurance already covers Wegovy, Novo Nordisk's savings card brings the price down to as little as $25 a month, whether the prescription is for the pen or the pill. The card caps its savings at $100 a month, so the $25 figure is a floor, not a guarantee. If your plan's copay before the card is higher than $125, the card still saves you $100 and you pay the difference instead of a flat $25.

A month on the card is defined the same way as self-pay: one box of four Wegovy pens or one bottle of 30 tablets. Novo Nordisk's terms exclude government beneficiaries from this card outright, and the page notes that eligibility and restrictions apply beyond that. A patient on Medicare, Medicaid, or another government program cannot use this card. The Medicare and Medicaid routes below apply instead.

Zepbound is a different molecule, priced on a separate schedule, with a comparable commercially insured savings card. The zepbound cost guide prices it dose by dose, and Wegovy vs Zepbound sets the two drugs side by side on trial results, not on price.

Wegovy cost with Medicare and Medicaid

Medicare covers Wegovy at a flat $50 a month under the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, a temporary demonstration that runs from July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027. Unlike Zepbound, whose Bridge coverage applies to the KwikPen only, Wegovy's $50 Bridge price covers every pen and pill dose. An eligible Part D member pays $50 whether their prescriber writes the 1 mg pen or the 25 mg tablet.

Reaching that $50 price still requires a Part D plan and your prescriber's prior authorization, the same structure Medicare uses across the Bridge. The $50 copay does not require a government beneficiary to also qualify for the commercial savings card above. The two programs never overlap. The Bridge is the route for anyone on Medicare.

Medicaid coverage is a separate question, because federal law makes weight-loss drug coverage optional for each state. Whether your state's Medicaid program covers Wegovy, and what you would pay, depends on where you live. Ask your state Medicaid office.

Compounded semaglutide and the FDA

Compounding pharmacies market semaglutide at prices below every figure above, and buyers comparing Wegovy's cost often put a compounded product on the same list. Before you add one to that list, read the FDA's warning on unapproved GLP-1 drugs in full, because it changes what that lower price buys.

In its statement on unapproved GLP-1 drugs used for weight loss, the FDA says that "unapproved versions do not undergo FDA's review for safety, effectiveness and quality before they are marketed," adding that "this means the agency does not review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are marketed." The agency also says it is "aware of counterfeit Ozempic marketed in the U.S." and warns that "counterfeit drugs claim to be authentic, but could contain the wrong ingredients."

Wegovy itself is FDA-approved semaglutide, reviewed under the label cited above. A compounded version sold at a lower price has not been through that review. That makes it a different comparison from the pen against the pill, which are two versions of one reviewed drug. The FDA tells patients to obtain a prescription from their doctor and fill it at a state-licensed pharmacy. That instruction applies to every self-pay, savings-card, and Medicare route priced above.

Wegovy cost per year, by dose

Multiplying each monthly price by 12 gives a rough annual figure for Wegovy, and it holds only as long as Novo Nordisk keeps today's prices in place. This is arithmetic on the numbers above, prices checked October 3, 2026, and it assumes one fill every calendar month. None of it is a quote from Novo Nordisk.

Wegovy cost over a year, arithmetic from prices checked October 3, 2026
Route or doseMonthly price12 months
List price$1,349.02$16,188.24
Self-pay pen, 0.25 mg to 2.4 mg$349$4,188
Self-pay pen, 7.2 mg HD$399$4,788
Self-pay pill, 1.5 mg$149$1,788
Self-pay pill, 4 mg$199$2,388
Self-pay pill, 9 mg or 25 mg$299$3,588
Savings card, best case$25$300
Medicare GLP-1 Bridge$50$600

The gap between the top and bottom rows is more than $15,800 a year, and almost nobody pays the top figure. Which row applies to you depends on the device your prescriber writes, your insurance, and whether you qualify for the Medicare Bridge.

Frequently asked questions

How are people getting Wegovy for $25 a month?

The $25 price is Novo Nordisk's commercially insured savings card. A patient without insurance cannot get it. It applies to a patient whose commercial insurance already covers Wegovy, for either the pen or the pill. The card caps its savings at $100 a month, so $25 is the lowest possible result rather than a guarantee for every plan. Novo Nordisk's terms exclude anyone on Medicare, Medicaid, or another government program, and state that eligibility and restrictions apply beyond that. A patient without commercial coverage pays the $349 self-pay pen price or the $149 to $299 pill price instead, both checked October 3, 2026.

How much does Wegovy cost without insurance?

Without insurance, Wegovy's self-pay price through NovoCare Pharmacy is $349 a month for the pen at every dose from 0.25 mg through 2.4 mg, and $399 a month for the 7.2 mg Wegovy HD pen. The pill runs $149 a month for the 1.5 mg starting dose, $199 for 4 mg, and $299 for the 9 mg and 25 mg maintenance doses. New patients starting the pen at 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg can get $199 a month for their first two fills, then the price returns to $349. These prices were checked against Novo Nordisk's pricing page on October 3, 2026.

Does Medicare cover Wegovy?

Medicare covers Wegovy at a flat $50 a month under the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, a temporary program running from July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027. The $50 price covers every pen and pill dose, unlike Zepbound's Bridge coverage, which applies to the KwikPen only. Reaching that price requires a Part D plan and a prior authorization from your prescriber. Medicaid coverage is separate and optional for each state under federal law. Whether your state's Medicaid program covers Wegovy, and what you would pay, depends on where you live.

Is there a Wegovy coupon in 2026?

The closest thing to a Wegovy coupon is Novo Nordisk's savings card, which brings a commercially insured patient's price to as little as $25 a month, capped at $100 in savings. A separate new-patient offer drops the pen to $199 a month for the first two fills of 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg, through December 31, 2026, before returning to $349. Both come directly from Novo Nordisk, require eligibility checks, and exclude government beneficiaries. Novo Nordisk's page states that eligibility and restrictions apply, so confirm your plan before counting on either price.

How much does the Wegovy pill cost?

The Wegovy pill costs $149 a month for the 1.5 mg starting dose, $199 a month for 4 mg, and $299 a month for both the 9 mg and the 25 mg maintenance doses, with a month defined as one bottle of 30 tablets. These self-pay prices run through NovoCare Pharmacy and were checked against Novo Nordisk's pricing page on October 3, 2026. The pill and the pen share one FDA label and the same active ingredient, semaglutide, so the pill is a different format of the same approved medication.
